History
The Holmes-Smith and Marks families purchased adjoining properties in the rural, high elevation valley of Chase Creek in the spring of 1993. With a combined 240 acres, the properties were perfect for horse activities - with good footing, few rocks and nice rolling terrain. The properties have a mix of open fields, pastures and woods.
The summer of 1994 saw the first 3 day event, with divisions from Pre-training to Intermediate. A neighbour to the north donated their big hay field for the steeplechase course, and the plentiful trails in the adjacent crown land were suitable for roads and tracks - so at least one, and sometimes two full-phase events were held each year. The event soon became a one and two star CCI. In addition, all the lower national level division were offered. Entries were typically 200 - 250 horses and riders from primarily BC, Alberta and Area 7 in the Northwest USA. Sometimes competitors came from as far as California, New Mexico and Manitoba.
The event was the joint effort of 3 families - the Holmes-Smiths, Rowans & Marks. All were and still are passionate about the sport and together they ran 16 events over a ten year period finishing in 2003.
The event will once again be organized by the below six persons: Nick Holmes-Smith - overall organizer and course designer; Ali Holmes-Smith/Gayle Rowan - secretary and administration; Laurie Rowan - Cross country course construction; Richard Marks - Flagging and First Aid; Barbara Marks - Hospitality

Facilities & Camping
The parking and camping area is in a large field nicely situated by a creek. There are great spots in the creek for cooling the horses' legs. We have permanent box stalls and portable box stalls - as well as corral stabling at a cheaper price. The farm is surrounded by wilderness, so you will feel like you are really camping a long way from civilization.
No pollution, no noise, lots of stars and the occasional bear.
